Like all travelers, Yordi and Dave gravitate to their favorite Cuba hotels. Hotels in Cuba offer very different amenities. On some tours, accommodations could be considered “roughing it,” but Yordi and Dave believe you will enjoy your People-to-People tour or Cuba travel experience more if you have comfortable rooms, good service, dependable dining and pleasant sociability.
In Havana, Yordi and Dave are especially fond of a few hotels but the Meliá Cohiba is well situated with many features and comforts not afforded by other hotels in Havana or in Cuba. Indeed, Travelgudecuba.com strongly recommends when visiting Havana spending a night or two or more at Meliá Cohiba.
Located in Vedado, just 50 meters from the famous and exciting Malecón, Meliá Cohiba is the Cuban equivalent of a 5-star hotel. Panoramic views of the Caribbean and city are enjoyed from all rooms, lounges and most restaurants. This hotel is designed to accommodate tourists and business travelers alike.
Vedado is the most “Hip” area of Havana with lively nightclubs, terrific music and although not in the center of the city, close to everything. Guests are 3 km from the city centre, 5 km from the Old Habana, 10 km from Baracoa Airport, 15 km from Jose Marti International Airport and 15 km from Havana’s famous Botanical Gardens.
Havana’s Meliá Cohiba offers 22 floors, 462 rooms, 7 specialty restaurants and 4 amazing bars. Rooms are classified by four levels with the Master Suites (Floors 18-21) offering the most luxurious accommodations. Guests can also enjoy superior, custom service through “Level Services.”

What Yordi and Dave like about this hotel is the location, the accommodations and the sociability. The food is good, the service above average and the comfort level and sociability outstanding.
The Plaza Habana is located off the second floor lobby. Dinner guests watch their food prepared and private cigar samplings can be arranged. Private dining for small intimate or large groups can be reserved.
The Med provides entertaining views of the outdoor pool which is open into the night. Cigar sampling, tapas and a well-stocked wine bar make for a relaxing break. Skylights brighten the room. Dinner is served until 1:00 p.m. Smart dress required.
The Italian La Piazza Restaurant overlooks the pool and offers diverse a la carte lunch and dinner menus. Only 48 dinner guests can be seated, so reservations are recommended.
Aqua’s grille and Bar offers poolside lunch and dinner a la carte with a capacity up to 70. Casual dress is in line here. Great snacks, a cool beverage of choice and a light fare menu are also available at the Bar.
If Hardrock is your style, you will love the Habana Café, a throwback to Havana of the 1950’s. Live guest entertainment and the classic Habana Café Band perform nightly. The café has an independent entrance and offers a la carte dining from 9:00 p.m. until 2:30 a.m.
The Cobijo Real is situated on the Level floor and provides dynamic views of all surrounds. Gourmet buffets, a TV lounge and Wi-Fi area are all available at this 20th floor restaurant.
The Case Del Habano bar offers the blend of wood and cigars that symbolizes old Havana. The drinks range from Cuban to international. Located on the upper level of the main lobby, smart dress is required.
There are other bars and restaurants that will surely catch your eye at Meliá Cohiba and in Vedado.
